Transcripts of Public Hearings

The Commission will, where possible, make transcripts of its public hearings available via this website. (The Commission does not publish transcripts of evidence given in private hearings).

Sometimes it is necesssary for the Commission to make non-publication directions in relation to evidence which is given in a public hearing. The reasons for this can include protection of the safety of a witness, protection of operationally sensitive information, prevention of unfair damage to reputation etc. Transcript of evidence which is the subject of a non-publication direction will usually be published in edited form (ie with the suppressed information removed). It is an offence to publish evidence in contravention of a non-publication  direction. Persons wishing to publish extracts from Commission transcript should ascertain and comply with all relevant  non-publication directions made by the Commission. 

Copyright in Commission transcript vests in the Commission. Apart from any purpose permitted under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), no part of a Commission transcript may be reproduced by any process without prior written permission.
