Making A Report of Misconduct by Civilian Employees of the NSW Police Force
All Information provided to the Commission is confidential
Complaint Form
When your written complaint is received, it will be assessed by the Commission to see if it involves serious police misconduct. If your complaint is assessed as involving serious police misconduct it may be investigated by the Commission. As the Commission is only a small agency, it cannot investigate every complaint. It investigates only those matters where there is a significant public interest involved. If the Commission decides not to investigate your complaint, even though it is about serious police misconduct, another course of action will be suggested to you.
If an investigation into a complaint about serious police misconduct is carried out by the NSW Police Service, the Commission may decide to oversee such an investigation to ensure that it is carried out properly.
If your complaint is to be investigated by the Commission you will be advised accordingly. You will also be advised of the outcome of the investigation. Unfortunately the Commission may not always be able to let you know what is happening during the course of the investigation, as to do so may affect the progress of the investigation.
Should you have further documentation in support of your complaint, please post to:
GPO Box 3880
Sydney NSW 2001
Please advise in the 'Details of Incident' field that further information will be forwarded to the Commission.
If your complaint is assessed as not being about serious police misconduct, you will be notified and the complaint will be referred to the Office of the NSW Ombudsman.
